thermoregulationLa thermoregulation It is a very important aspect for everyone's living comfort.

The thermoregulation systems range from simple chronothermostats to more "smart" systems made up of different but interconnected elements, such as:

  • the hardware, or the physical parts, such as sensors, actuators, control units, thermostats;
  • the software, which includes the adjustment algorithms and the user interface:
  • the communication network, which allows the exchange of information between the components and the remote management of the entire system

The growing need for comfort and the increasing awareness of consumption require that an advanced thermoregulation system has these features:

  • Automatic temperature setting:
possibility to automatically adjust the temperature according to user preferences (for time slots, for days of the week, etc.) and according to internal and external conditions of humidity and temperature.
  • Air conditioning by area:
the efficiency of the thermoregulation system increases by providing each room with a temperature probe, which makes it possible to differentiate the temperature set points for each individual zone, based on the habit and the real needs.
  • Unified management:
a unique thermoregulation system allows the management of the temperatures and time schedules of the entire system from a single control panel.
  • Remote control:
remote access allows you to control and / or modify the operation of the system through a simple App, directly on a smartphone or tablet. Remote control also facilitates service and maintenance operations.
  • Efficient generator operation:
an advanced system allows the generator to adapt to the required thermal load and to operate only when necessary, avoiding inefficiencies and discontinuity in operation. A good regulation system also guarantees a highly efficient use of systems powered by renewable energy (solar panels, heat pumps, etc.).

The "intelligence" of these systems lies above all in making the entire integrated system operate energetically and economically efficiently, equipping the home with a system of true comfort.
In addition to making life easier for users, an intelligent thermoregulation system is also the first step to optimize consumption with consequent energy savings.

Thermoregulation, Smart home and energy efficiency

advanced thermoregulation

New trends and developments in the home automation sector are outlining the concept of “smart home”. The house becomes intelligent because the system it is equipped with is capable of automatically controlling and managing household equipment, including the heating and air conditioning system, to obtain better comfort, greater energy savings and optimization of consumption.

In this context, applications related to the Internet of Things (IoT), ie the connection to the network of things and objects, are on the rise.

The IoT Observatory of the Politecnico di Milano estimated the benefits of the introduction of smart devices for heating, taking as sample three types of families (single, young couples, families with children) residing in Northern Italy. Compared to the use of a traditional system, considerable savings can be observed between 16% for young couples and 28% for families with children.

The widespread adoption of smart solutions for heating in the Milan area alone would reduce carbon dioxide emissions of over 54.000 tons of CO2 per year, with positive impacts on the environment and an annual savings of well 70 million euros for citizens, equal to about 100 euro per family.

Intelligent thermoregulation: a rapidly growing market

smart thermoregulation

An analysis published by "Research and Markets", a global giant in market research, notes that the demand for reliable systems in terms of energy efficiency and safety is driving the IoT market and constant growth is expected in the next 4 years.
As for Italy, recent research conducted by the IoT Observatory of the Milan Polytechnic shows that the smart home market in 2017 has grown by 35% compared to the previous year and heating management is one of the main engines of such growth.

From the same research emerges that the consumer's attention to energy saving has grown considerably in 2017, in particular with regards to the purchase of connected generators and thermoregulation systems.

In terms of smart home, the reasons for buying are mainly due to a few needs: the ability to have their homes under control, greater convenience in carrying out recurring activities and energy savings. 79% of Italian consumers are willing to buy specific products, 33% more than the previous year.

In terms of smart home, 79% of consumers (+ 33% compared to last year) is willing to buy specific products to respond to a few, but fundamental, needs: to control their homes even at a distance, greater convenience in carrying out activities routine and energy saving.

New opportunities for professionals in the sector

Sensitivity to energy efficiency and increasing interest in the digital world by the user, on the one hand, and technological innovations of an increasingly smart and interconnected market on the other, open up new and interesting business opportunities for installers, designers and technicians .

A further boost comes from tax incentives:
for all the 2018, in fact, end users can take advantage of the deduction of 65% for the expenses related to the purchase, installation and installation of multimedia devices for remote control of heating, hot water and air conditioning systems .
